Hello, everyone! It’s Mari from Arcadian Home blog, a wonderful online place to find lots of decor inspirations. I’m so happy to be here visiting Wellborn’s blog, That’s My Style, to share a guest post about color. In addition to lots of color, in the images we’ve chosen, you’ll also see some cool contemporary lamps, floor coverings and much more.
Recently, the folks here at Wellborn did a post they called “Our Emerald ‘Color of the Year’ Tribute. That inspired us to go a bit further with “Beyond Emerald: Interior Colors” to share some of the lovely hues that are inspiring us right now. Please enjoy!
What a beautiful bedroom this is—dressed in pure white and verdant green. It’s so fresh and exciting with lots of crisp detailing on the bed.
Here, chartreuse is the color star in a white living space filled with light. I love the great mix of seating in this room and the intriguing wall of art.
Right now, we’re seeing more and more handsome interior designs with dark walls like this living room enveloped in deep green.
In 2011, Honeysuckle Pink was named Pantone‘s Color of the Year and remains a favorite for many of us who love pinks in general and this one in particular. The space above uses Honeysuckle to great effect. The slipper chairs are chic pink perfection while the same hue is seen again in the entry hall beyond—on wallpaper and the pretty little foyer light.
Wide splashes of pink are not for everyone. Here a pale room inspired by Benjamin Moore‘s Lemon Sorbet gets little pops of Honeysuckle. It’s a lovely look, don’t you think?
That soft yellow hue is pulled into a traditional bedroom as an accent to Color Marketing Group‘s 2013 Color of the Year called RE-BLUED—a great pairing.
I’m fascinated by watery blues, especially dark moody tones like the one chosen for the upholstery on this modern tufted headboard—a compelling and sophisticated color
No matter what the color trends are at the moment, white is always in favor. Here, a stunning canopy bed with deeply tufted tall headboard is lovely in white with touches of pale gray. Wouldn’t this space be perfect for a weekend breakfast in bed? Perhaps served on contemporary decorative trays? Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

Gary Tilson’s Award Winning Milan Bathroom Design is a very clean minimalist design but is anything but simple….
The clients had already renovated portions of their home including new wood floors in the master
bedroom before coming to me for a design consultation.
They were ready to upgrade their outdated bath. Remodel Size:13’6″ x 11′ 4″
Meetings with them identified some key concerns and wishes for their new Master Bath.
They wanted a spa-like bath with clean lines.
They chose Wellborn’s Milan Cherry in Autumn Spice, setting the tone for the project.
Kohler vessel sinks and faucets continued the clean look.
Keeping with their minimalist tastes, they decided to do away with pulls. Where necessary, touch latches were added to aid in opening doors / drawers.
Matching Wellborn trim was added including a valance above sinks with recessed lighting, door casings, caps over the tile wainscot and window casings.
The original entry to the Master Closet was through the bath taking up valuable wall and circulation space.
The entry was closed in favor of a new door directly from the bedroom which freed up additional wall
space for the shower and toilet areas.
The original entry to the bath was from a nook at the far end of the bedroom.
The entry was moved to an adjacent wall which was already in the circulation path.
A pair of pocket doors freed up wall space for switches that would have been hidden behind a swinging
An Ecofires firebox with cabinets and shelving matching those of the bath were installed in the alcove
creating an intimate sitting area for reading.
Additional functional solutions to their needs include:
Hamper base cabinet, Milan doors on the tub surround to access Whirlpool pump,
Pilaster units each side of the sinks with doors and electrical outlets within,
Heated Towel Bar and Heated Floor, and a more efficient allocation of circulation space allowing a fuller use of the existing square footage.
The clean lines of the Milan door style with the warm rich Autumn Spice finish on Cherry along with the
other material selections helped to create the sophisticated contemporary result that the well-traveled

When the owners built their vacation home in 2009, they wanted to add modern touches while still remaining true to the home’s location on the family’s farm in the country.
The design of the cabinetry complements the house’s Craftsman style with massive posts and arching beams.
The selected finishes of painted sage green and distressed midnight black are true to the design and add to the “lived – in” quality.
The one of a kind characteristics come not just from the cabinet style, but also from the bead board, seeded glass door inserts and carved turnings.
The hammered copper sinks with reverse-hammered stars add to the natural theme.
The layout is very user friendly, while still excellent for family dinners and entertaining with the curved raised seating area.
Random distressed wood plank flooring, iron cabinet pulls, 2×2 slate mosaic backsplash, timber beamed wood ceiling, and natural stone countertops are true to the architecture of the home.
The industrial lighting and professional style stainless steel Thermador range top, Thermador double ovens, and Sharp microwave drawer add to the home’s modernized appeal.
Other appliances are fully integrated and hidden behind matching wood cabinet panels. These include the Thermador 36” French door refrigerator, warming drawer and dual dishwashers.
The intelligent mix of modern and past elements create a timeless space to be shared and loved by all for years to come! Breath-taking work Bob!

Inspirational Entrance Number Uno.
I love this Front Door decor from Hydrangea Home because the use of simple items to create an inviting elegant entrance.
