Wellborn History

Paul Wellborn and Doug Wellborn founded Wellborn Cabinet, Inc., in 1961 in Ashland, Alabama. The company began as a small cabinet shop environment in a 3,200 square foot building manufacturing low-cost kitchen and bath cabinets for contract sales of government-financed housing. In 1986, Paul Wellborn purchased the company to become sole owner and changed the marketing strategy to dealer/distributor sales with Wellborn Cabinet’s customer base consisting largely of residential kitchen and bath dealers and distributors.

Since 1986, the Wellborn Cabinet line has significantly expanded year by year. Currently, we offer a vast selection of kitchen and bath cabinets at a competitive price. The Wellborn Cabinet Collection consists of contemporary and traditional door styles with color selections from warm browns to rich, painted reds and whites, as well as glazes, thermofoil and laminate.

The plant has expanded to a 2,000,000 square foot facility. Wellborn manufactures its kitchen and bath cabinets from start to finish by operating its own timber-processing mill, using state-of-the-art equipment to build its cabinets and shipping them on the company-owned transportation system. Having all levels of the cabinet making process at one facility allows Wellborn Cabinet to control costs and ensure high quality craftsmanship.
