White – A Classic Standard

I am part of a “NKBA” group on Linkedin and a discussion is going on right now: “What colors are trending right now in kitchens?” And hands down White is the color of choice – all shades of white! From warm to bright, glaze to no glaze, cream to antique, and the list goes on and on.  Certain key points were made that I would like to share with you – I found some excellent Wellborn Cabinet Designs from our dealers and designers on Houzz to illustrate what is going on right now!

  • Clean lines, simple door styles with a modern feel while delicate hints of “personal style” are still scattered through-out the spaces.
  • Use color on islands and certain “special” cabinets for that unique pop of color.
  • Painted White with Glazing is still strong in certain markets.
  • Gray has been coined as the new “White” or “Neutral”. Stay tuned in 2014 for more “gray” from Wellborn Cabinet.
Remember all whites are trending right now – antique, warm, with or without glaze, classic, soft, creams, bright – every white under the sun.
So what colors are trending in kitchens right now in your area?

Our Emerald "Color of the Year" Tribute

As Pantone unveiled their 2013 Color of the Year – we just had to research Emerald and see what others are doing and how we can jump “on board” the Emerald Express.
So our tribute to “Emerald” begins: we searched through the pages of  Pinterest and Houzz  to find spaces and products where Emerald provides simple bursts of renewed energy or is intelligently positioned through-out an entire space to create the Wow that your space was needing!
Emerald truly can be a chameleon of spaces from the elegant decor of dining rooms of old to vintage basement retreats created for fun-filled weekends. We don’t even begin to address clothing, make-up or other industries outside of fashion…. 🙂
Emerald can be your theme….simple to dynamic…. Emerald truly answers the “color call” this year!
(pay attention to the others as well…..)
Houzz is alive with the evolution of Emerald! Can’t wait to see all the new additions for 2013!

Christmas Decor 101 Front Door Theme

Each year I start with our front door on my festive journey into transforming our home into a Winter Wonderland or like a Christmas gift shop at the local mall…. Either way I delight each year in conjuring up a theme for our “Front Door” – this year I am “theme-less”  so I am frantically scouring one of my favorite sites for new inspiration. www.houzz.com  So please join me as I try to discover my “Front Door” theme for this year!

Inspirational Entrance Number Uno.

I love this Front Door decor from Hydrangea Home because the use of simple items to create an inviting elegant entrance. The Cedar and Evergreen cuttings with the ornaments resting together in the wire planter stand – create a simple look that did not require much money or time – and with the whimsical Snowman Sleigh you have a grand entrance that welcomes all your guests this Christmas Season!

So what if you don’t live where there’s snow or Evergreen free for the clipping….
Try something different like shown here by Other Metro Home.
The traditional Red and Green are exchanged for Turquoise and Dusty Salmon  – the look is still FESTIVE & FUN!
Gives me ideas of mixing Evergreen Clippings with other colors this year…..

Again  – Simple elements create a Grand Entrance! A Great Theme can be carried through-out the entire home effortlessly. So easy to pull the lite Garland through-out the house; stair handrails, mantels, above cabinetry….
The Angel theme can work in every room of the home with such softness that you might just keep them out all year…
And the Poinsettias are perfect as center pieces but don’t forget guest bedrooms and baths for these beautiful reminders of the season. A great take home gift for your visitors.
