Grey Is The New White?

Grey White Wellborn Mark Theresa MyFixitUpLife Kitchen Cabinet Design

Why grey?

The color has been surfacing as an increasingly talked-about color in home finishes lately. And I have a few ideas why.

To its credit, grey gives a softer-than-white contrast from the bold power choices of turquoise and yellow that are trending as popular in home decor and maybe we’re looking for calmer, relaxing hues to surround our family’s hearth.

Whatever the reason, designers are looking at grey as an increasingly popular choice for home finishes. And the product designers are giving us more options when it comes to the shades of grey. At the Kitchen & Bath Industry ShowWellborn showcased their new shades of grey including Willow.

While some designers say ‘grey is the new white,’ it’s not exactly taking over white in market share or popularity. But it’s a hue that might be perfect as a backdrop for your next remodeling project.

Gray. The New Neutral.

At this past year’s KBIS we debuted our new gray named “Willow” it was met with much excitement from our dealers, team members, design partners and the K&B industry as a whole! Our Corporate Designer Karen Salyer worked with our Dealer-Designer Council and our marketing team to achieve the correct hue answer to the new neutral question.

The transitional style kitchen also showcases components that are part of our Active Living Collection – the open space under the cooktop is a great space for legroom  – whether wheelchair or a chair / stool – and adds interest to the space as well.  One of the many elements that increased the appeal of this kitchen was the use of lighting! Lighting was used in the normal areas, wall cabinets with glass doors and in the leg room area under the cooktop but lighting was also added to base cabinetry in hard to see corners and where cabinetry kits were installed. Just another excellent feature for those clients with aging eyes, limited sight or really for everyone!

HGTV KBIS 2013: What’s Hot in Kitchens

Excerpt from: KBIS 2013: What’s Hot In Kitchens

by  May 1, 2013

If you saw Kayla’s bathroom trends post then you know that we recently spent a few days in the Big Easy for the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show checking out the hottest new products before they hit shelves. Trendspotting at a trade show is always fun but unlike other shows we attend where design is the only focus, kitchens and baths are spaces where form and function are equally important so technology is key. If you’re in the market for a new kitchen, or just thinking about a few upgrades, here are the freshest trends/technologies to make your kitchen really cook!

Wondering what color to paint your cabinets? I polled a few manufacturers and while white cabinets continue to be tops, gray is the shade they’re betting on to break white’s top spot. This kitchen by Wellborn pairs soft gray cabinets with richly stained wood — combining cabinet colors is another kitchen trend that’s holding strong:

Wellborn at KBIS represents NOLA with a Twist!

LargeBanner

(I call this post – our commercial break) 🙂  is that legal with blogging? lol

Our theme for this year’s KBIS (Kitchen & Bath Industry Show) hosted in New Orleans is NOLA.  NOLA is a well known acronym for New Orleans and now it is a great representation for Wellborn’s presence at the 2013 show.

We created a theme that encompasses the location, our message and commitment to current and future dealers, customers and employees and the importance of all.

So what does NOLA mean to Wellborn?

kNowledge: Why join forces with Wellborn? We have the brightest in the business in Production, Sales, Technology, Marketing, etc. all with industry leading programs for the building and remodeling markets with the knowledge, tools and training to help you succeed in your K&B profession.

Opportunities: Great opportunities are available for dealers, contractors and builders. We offer programs that others do not, programs that allow you to grow your business in ways that you had not imagined.

Learning: Come to the Wellborn booth to hear informative presentations about industry trends, design and other areas of interest that could affect you as a K&B professional. But it doesn’t stop there! We will also be part of the official KBIS presentations as well.

Achieve: With Wellborn you are part of a family – –  – become part of our team and you can achieve your business goals with Wellborn.

Can’t wait to see you there!

Are you interested in becoming a dealer and would like to set up an appointment at the show? Are you with the press or a design industry blogger and like a booth tour?                                                                                                          Email: Melinda Miller (melindam@wellborn.com) or Brooke Herren (bherren@wellborn.com) to set that up!
